BROOMSTRAW

“And didn’t she take a straw and check to see if the cake was done. Didn’t I see her do that? It’s witchcraft is what it is. How in all of nature can a broom straw predict if a cake is done.”

“There’s dough on the straw if the cake is not done. It’s a testing is all.”

“Science then and what’s worse… But I still think it witchcraft. The cake tasted of strawberries and honeycomb and it the middle of winter. And she divined it with a broom straw.”

Candle Wise

WITCH WISE – CANDLE

To dress a candle, after cleansing with cold water, anoint the candle with oil. You can make this oil to suit your purpose and candle color. For instance, to call a story, use a yellow candle and herbs associated with the mind. You might want to use dandelion in the oil. You can use saffron to great advantage. Only a little is needed. You might infuse the oil with the stone energy of citrine.

For calling something to you, bring the oil from the bottom of the candle up to the center and then from the top, down to the center. Do this while envisioning your intended result. Results best served with a rising moon, from new to full.

For banishing or sending away an energy (or habit or circumstance, etc), begin in the center and push the oil to the ends. Again, while envisioning the result you are wanting. You can enchant the candle at the same time, by chanting (and filling) the candle with the chant (hence: en-chant). A waning moon is best for banishing and diminishing.
